About us

Friends of the Earth Tayside is one of ten local groups of Friends of the Earth Scotland. If you live in Dundee, Angus or Perth & Kinross we are your local group. We are also the closest local group for North Fife.

Friends of the Earth Scotland (FoES) is an independent Scottish charity, part of the same network as FoE England, Wales and Northern Ireland, FoE Europe and FoE International. FoE stands for environmental justice which means a decent environment for all without using more than our fair share of the world’s resources. We aim to make the right to a decent environment available to everyone in Scotland and around the globe. The success and continuation of our work depends crucially on membership, donations and fundraising.  If YOU believe that we need to live within the constraints of the planet, sharing its resources more fairly, then join us and help make this happen.

As an active member of the Friends of the Earth International network, FoES – and our members – are able to join in campaigns involving more than 70 countries throughout the world.

Nearer home, FoE Tayside campaigns on local environmental issues and sustainable development for all. So we are involved in national campaigns (environmental justice, tackling climate change, opposing new nuclear power stations and weaponry), and local ones.  Our main focus is on what’s happening in Tayside (local planning decisions, waste disposal, renewable energy, clean beaches etc.), although the consequences of Forth Energy’s proposed biomass plant would be seen in communities and natural forests around the world.
