    10.00 - 16.00Overgate Shopping Centre, Dundee

FoE Tayside are holding a stall at the Overgate Shopping Centre on Saturday 27th April as part of Green Health Week, which aims to raise awareness of the local green health activities and benefits of being outside. We’re planning to focus on air pollution, encouraging people to walk, cycle and use public transport. We’ll have some face masks/gas masks for people to wear in front of a board saying “2030: Compulsory wear”.

The stall will be from 10:00 to 16:00, if you would like to volunteer to do a shift, even if it’s just for an hour or two. Contact foe.tayside@gmail.com

Our city still has quite a bit of green spaces, yet many bees and pollinators are disappearing.  We can change that!  For now our council still sprays a lot of pesticides, glyphosate which is a carcinogen not only to humans but also toxic to pollinators.  Get active in our community spaces and start gardening on spots that were sprayed.  You’d be amazed how quickly wildflowers and healthy fauna revive on healthy grounds.  It is on all of us to make this possible.

Visit our stall at the bottom of Thurso Crescent (125) on Saturday May 11 (2019), 1 - 6 pm.

We offer discussion, advice, and some seeds for pollinators and environmentally friendly gardening. Everybody of all ages is welcome, even if you don’t have access to green spaces.

Affordable snacks and cakes are available.

    For further information contact diana.otto@gmail.com.

Let’s revive our green spaces for our bees and a healthier environment for us all.

Looking forward to seeing you on May 11.

On Wednesday 29th May, FoE Tayside and the Baha'i Scottish Council will be co-hosting a talk by Dr Arthur Dahl on "Meeting the Environmental Challenges of the 21st Century: You, Me and Society." The talk will begin at 7pm at the Chaplaincy, University of Dundee. (Refreshments available!)

Dr Arthur Dahl is a world authority on sustainable development, with over 50 years of international experience. As he says himself, “it has been the focus of my whole career even before the term was coined!” It has taken him all over the world, from advising in developing countries to playing an important role in the Rio Summit talks of 2012. Dr Dahl was previously a Deputy Assistant Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and has worked as a consultant on sustainable development for the World Bank. Dr Dahl is now President of the International Environment Forum, and has most recently turned his experience to the challenge of presenting a highly acclaimed set of proposals on Global Governance for the reform and strengthening of the UN. We hope this event will be of great interest to all who care about the future of our planet!

To accommodate this talk, we'll be holding our monthly meeting at the earlier start time of 6pm
