Local Groups Weekend and Activists’ Assembly

This year the Local Groups Weekend organised by FoE Scotland will be taking place in Dundee, on 26-27 October.  This is partly a recognition of the high levels of activity and exposure that FoE Tayside has achieved through the campaigns to stop the big biomass power station, and to reverse the changes to recycling services in the city.  Lessons from these campaigns will be among the topics covered over the weekend.

There will also be a new element – an Activist’s Assembly – intended to open up dialogue and collaboration with those involved in related campaigning issues, from fuel poverty in Scotland to the environmental impact of global economic forces.  There will be a focus on the effects of incineration projects globally and how this can be tackled locally (linking with the campaign against big biomass).  This will be held on the evening of Saturday 26 October.  Please let us know if you wish to take part.  There may be the opportunity to put on a display of your campaigning material.

The event will be held at Dundee West Church Hall, Perth Road, Dundee.  It will run from midday on 26 October to midday on 27 October, and an informal tour of places of interest in and around the city centre will be available following the end of the formal session on Sunday.
